Types of editing
There are two types of editing done on the essay.
Structural editing: Here the writing is checked for its structural integrity, logical reasoning, and uniformity.
Copy editing: Here the writing is checked on the sentence level, which includes checking for clarity and brevity, grammar, formality, etc.
The first thing that you will check in structural editing is to see if the introduction provides a clear outline for the body paragraphs. The introduction should provide background about the subject matter for the readers to fully grasp the context fully. It should be checked whether the thesis is clearly explained and that answering it will answer the essay prompt.
The body should continue in this fashion and make sure that the argument thread follows each subsequent essay paragraph and collectively contributes towards the thesis. Each paragraph should hold a unique idea, point, or argument and should follow an argumentation structure including the evidence, analysis, and rebuttals. Disappointed and disheartened these students might end up asking others: ‘help write essay for me’. However, these students don’t need outside help but only need to work on their editing process in their essay writing.
You should make sure that the information flows smoothly within and between paragraphs, through the help of transitioning words and signposts. The paragraphs can be split into two or combined together to allow better readability and strong paragraphs. Also, as the space in the essay is precious, therefore, you should never allow for any repetitions in the essay text.
The first thing that you should do in copy-editing is to optimize your sentences to allow for brevity. You should be frugal with your words and remove verbosity all together from your writing. The sentences should also be checked for run-on sentences, correct voice, unnecessary adjectives and adverbs, informal phrases, and empty sentences.
You should also make sure that the verb tense and pronoun usage is consistent as it can confuse the reader and move the attention away from the main topic.
Improving the editing process

When you prepare your draft you should keep the writing aside for a couple of days so that when you come back to it, the writing seems unfamiliar and you can look for improvements and catch the errors easily. This is to be repeated with each editing session. Engaging yourself in other activities can help you defamiliarize yourself with the essay faster.
Changing the format and the medium of reading the essay has come in handy for many essay writers. Just by changing the font and its size writers tend to catch errors that they missed before.
